You might not recognize Cassandra Peterson without her gothic makeup because she was mostly known for her work as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The character was a horror hostess, presenting B films weekly on a program called “Elvira’s Movie Macabre.”
Since she was a child, she was always a horror fanatic, preferring scary toys over typical Barbie dolls. Peterson’s career is far from over, and she returned as Elvira in “The Goldbergs,” “Netflix and Chills with Dr. Elvira,” and “Elvira’s 40th Anniversary, Very Scary, Very Special, Special” in 2021.
